DIY In The Dark : The Blair Witch Project Stick Figure

The Blair Witch Project is, in my humble opinion, one of the best horror films. I’ve talked about it several times before so I won’t ramble about its greatness.

Recently though I’ve been feeling this strong as hell desire to craft one of the stick figurines. I think it might have something to do with autumn.

So this morning I gathered some bits and crafted one. There’s something so good about starting with a bunch of sticks and some bits of twine from a cat scratching post, and making something that hums of the evil that was there in those Blackhill woods in Maryland. It was so enjoyable crafting this…the fact it was free to make, and I knew that if I fucked up it really didn’t matter.

For One Figurine You will need:

  1. Four dry twigs.
  2. Some twine.
  3. Something to cut the sticks. I used jewellery pliers.

How To Make

Cut three sticks to roughly the same size, and one stick slightly smaller.

Put the sticks in place so you know what the finished product is going to look like.

Tie like so…

…then like so.

Then tie on the ‘head’ stick. Use a longer piece of twine to tie around the ‘throat.’ You’ll use that to hang the figurine, as demonstrated below.

Here is the instructional Blair Witch Stick Figures video I found on YouTube which formed the basis of this little project.
