Halloween On Instagram 2018

Halloween was pretty much cancelled for me this year. (You can read about it here if you like.) But the day after I did find the energy to appreciate some of what the folks I follow on Instagram had to offer.

I would like to welcome everyone here today ; the ones who have been supporting me since the early days and the latest followers. I am grateful for every single one of you and wish you all a HAUNTING SAMHAIN! 🍁 What are your plans tonight? Halloween costume party, night in watching films, gathering with your coven for spells? I will celebrate this Sabbath quietly with my husband @gwendolinoleum and our familiars @le_mini_zoo for some positive magick thennnn… we'll watch films! 🍂 On this picture I am wearing the Kjalar pendant and my Runic dangle earrings. S a m h a i n . “Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.” – Mary Elizabeth Frye . Blessed Samhian! 🕯️ This photo was recently taken in Sweden near the Tanum rock carvings, at the top of the mountain where two huge burial mounds together rest in a forest of Birch, Beech and Juniper. It reflects what I was experiencing that day. I had just gotten my Moontime that morning and felt slow and in a deep haze, I was in pain. But up there it felt so peaceful, I could just sink into the trees and rocks. The Juniper, with whom I sense a deep bond, was as high as a house, guarding over the cairns. And I simply wanted to melt into it. I also felt a strong pull to the earth and after the climb could then truly ease into my body, into the flow within me and into the experience of spending most of the day in that forest: I could sit still for a very long time on end, my breathing was very slow and deep, my vision was clouded but somehow everything also seemed more alive, as if I had stepped into a different realm. The trees, the moss, rocks and minerals, fungi and plants, the tiniest creatures crawling on my wool and linnen and in my loose hair. Death and Life seemed nearer than ever and that place felt like a subtle bridge of peace and balance between the two. For a long time I didn’t want to leave. Today we can honour that Threshold we all one day will step over. It’s one of the things that connects us all, to each other, to all the other Relatives four legged and otherwise, and to our Ancestors whom I will honour tonight with a shared dinner, cheer and prayer. Blessings.
